The RPK For Sale operates in the same manner as the AK-47. The same 7.62×39mm ammo is also used. While the RPK’s effective range and accuracy have been improved, its ability to fire continuously has been increased, and the receiver has been strengthened, it still shares a similar design layout with the Kalashnikov line of rifles.

Compared to the AKM, the RPK has a longer and thicker barrel. This means that firing it for longer periods of time without the barrel heating up and permanently losing accuracy is possible. The receiver is permanently attached to the chrome-lined barrel, which cannot be changed in the field. It has a new front sight base installed, and the gas block is devoid of an under-barrel cleaning rod guide and a bayonet lug.

The barrel is equipped with a front sight base with a lug that restricts the bipod’s rotation around the barrel’s axis, as well as a folding bipod that is positioned close to the muzzle. Because of the barrel’s threaded muzzle, muzzle accessories like compensators, blank-firing adapters, and flash hiders can be used.

A thread protector can be used to cover the muzzle’s threads when the device is not in use. A modified trunnion, strengthened by ribbing, holds the barrel fixed to the receiver. This trunnion is marginally wider than the one found on regular AKM type rifles. The front trunnion’s symmetrical bulges on both sides guarantee a good fit inside the receiver.
